Posted 13 years 10 months ago
Hey all, I've always used Rocket Launcher to install template to my websites. At this point, i dont know how to start from scratch. Question though, if I start to delete the particular modules, extensions, articles or whatever i don't need for my website, will that improve my website load time ?
Any tips on trying improve the load time for my site is appreciated.

What I always do is after I decided on a theme, to delete all the other themes files and all the associated CSS files with those. Not sure if it speeds it up but I do that since I don't really need them.

Normally I go in to templates/your_template_name/css and delete all of the CSS files related to any styles I'm not using. Just be sure not to delete the CSS for the style you are using.
Then, I normally delete all the standard Joomla templates from the root/templates that come bundled with the Joomla! install.
Then I go to root/images and remove any images that come with Joomla! or the Rocket Launcher install.

The RL is really provided as a reference, not a source.
Many members build theirs sites based on the RL by editing the content, but in actuality, it's best use it as a reference (on localhost or a sub directory of your site) and building your own site from scratch.
