Mootools stuff flickers and fades when accessed

Posted 17 years 10 months ago
    • Hi all,

Just curious about something. It's nothing new so I'm hoping someone knows what I'm trying to describe next. If you are using Firefox on a Mac, using things like Moomenus which I think look great, and things like fade in news items using the Mootools libraries etc., the surrounding text flickers or fades in and out when accessing the menus. Or when a one line news item for example fades in, certain text fades in and out on the rest of the page, I'm guessing when the javascript kicks in.

So to make it clear visiting the demo rockettheme page and looking at the Elemental template, hover between Features and Typography (to get the menu to drop down) and you can see what I mean. The text fades out on the menu itself and in the first paragraph of the page and then fades back in. Does anyone one know if it's a Firefox engine thing on the Mac or is there something else at play. I've tested it on several Macs so it's not just me. It doesn't happen on other browsers I've tried. Thanks for any help.

    • Actually this is a known bug with the gecko rendering engine on mac. This has actually been fixed in Firefox 3 alpha! Horray!

Fantastic news Andy, thanks for the heads up. Thanks also for the gorgeous templates using the Moo stuff, so I don't have to use Flash.
