But you can just as easily use a blank page and the modulebot to put a module into the content.
I helped someone do that recently and I thinks it's a bit cleaner than hacking the template or the index.php to not load mosbody. (but that is purely opinion and I have no evidence to back it up.)

Any Speed uptimisation ideas will be greatly welcomed. I am now at about 9sec per KB and have had lots of problems with my host, but what else can i do to kerb this less that the average? i will like some thing less that 1s per KB
Your favicon is over half of the total document size!!! Now that shouldn't be so.
Also it may pay to switch debugging on and see how many SQL queries your pages execute. You only have to do it for the time you're checking out the queries. They will display on the front end at the bottom of the page. Many queries can slow the site down. There was a speed optimisation thread on the Joomla forums recently (in the Administrator forum) so you could check that out for hints. I'll post a link if you can't find it but no time to hunt right now...
