Hey People,
Probably not the best place to post this but just to ask. Does any one know where stop the frontpage from displaying "There are no items to display on the frontpage withoud disrupting the the other pages? any advice welcome before i dig deep. Cheers. - No money to extend membership

Instead of using the frontpage component for your home page, use a content item. Create a menu item linked toa content item and make it the very fist menu item.
If you really must use the frontpage component, the only other way is to remove the sentence in question (There are no items to display) completely from the language file. Look in /languages/english.php. Do a find for the phrase "no items to display" and remove the sentence completely. Leave the quotes intact (""). Note though that this will have a site-wide effect, not just the frontpage. - Say no to Internet Explorer 6.

- Or even easier is to make a blank content item and turn off the title then publish it to the front page.

the only reason i use the PHP is to create me a module in the spot normally reserved for main content.
