Is it time to switch to Joomla 1.6 and now 1.7?

  • Is it time to switch to Joomla 1.6 and now 1.7?

    • What are your recommendations at this time. At first you said to wait until August of this year, when 1.6 came out. Also, now that 1.7 is released are your 1.6 templates compatible to this upgrade.

Thank you for the expert advice.

    • Hi,
I would also like to know about compatibility with J 1.7. We are just redesigning a site and had considered upgrading to 1.6 - and taken a bit by surpise by the 1.7 release.
      Thanks

    • Please could a mod confirm if we are OK to use all the 1.6 templates and extensions with 1.7.

      Regards

    • I upgraded a site I'm developing to 1.7 and with Modulus template installed and I can no longer work with Menu Manager. The new Joomla development cycle is so frequent, it is going to be hard to keep up, especially when there are still so many modules that are still only J1.5 I too am heading back to 1.6.

    • I am still advising clients to stay with 1.5 as it is stable and the extensions work. :cheesy:
