First ... I'm not an expert on this.
This topic is strongly connected to cck like flexicontent.
So check them out (k2, zoo, flexicontent, jsebold etc.) ...
Personally I like this very much:

together with that tags-exetnsion it looks very powerfull to me. Sadly I'm not sure if there is a future (J1.7) for this.
But would like see what others can say about this.
