SEO & pdf, font resize, printer version,...

    • Hi All,

So I'm looking through the google links to my site (lockerstink.com) the other day and I notice multiple links to the same article in all of its various versions. :( These include versions for the pdf and all three font sizes. I didn't see a printer version, but after seeing my links in Google, I turned off the printer version in globals just in case. Anywho, I'm using Vortex (however this would seem like somewhat of a general Joomla question), so for the purposes of SEO, should we turn off ANY feature that could potentially recreate content and negatively affect your search rankings?

      &

Does commenting out the font resizing code in the index file for vortex eliminate the actual duplicate content or just the incoming readers ability to resize the font?

Thanks to all and apologies if this was covered in a previous post.

      regards,

    • The font resizing has no effect whatsoever on your SEO.

No need to turn off any of those features if you need them... just block google from seeing the bad links.

Open up your robots.txt file and add the following line at the end to prevent google from seeing print and pdf versions of your content:
      Disallow: /index2.php

While you're at it, you might also want to remove the line in that robots.txt file that blocks your images from being indexed by google.

If you're really serious about SEO for Joomla, pop over to Alledia.com , follow his blog, and buy his book. Highly recommended.
