Transfer from one host to the another

Posted 13 years 9 months ago
    • I was wondering if anyone could help me. I am trying to transfer from one host to another. I've already uploaded all the files but am having trouble setting up the database. I exported the database from my old host and tried importing to the new one in phpMyAdmin but keep getting errors. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong? (Side note: I do not have much experience with MySQL or PHP)

    • My database name is [removed for privacy reasons] and I tried changing it in the SQL file but got this instead.

    • Yep I'm using Akeeba backup. Does that mean I don't need to upload the SQL file. In that case, what values do I change in the configuration.php file?

All you have to do is create a new DB and enter the info when prompted to during the install.

No need to change any info in the configuration.php file, it's all done automatically.

    • Its also another domain name. So I'm guessing I would need to change the configuration file to point the domain name to the files on the host?

    • If so I know you have to change the public $user, public $password, and public $db values. Do I need to change public $host value?

No need to change any info in the configuration.php file, it's all done automatically.

      1) Back up your site

      2) Upload the .jpa (or zip) to your host

      3) Before you run the install, create a new DB

      4) Run the install - enter the new DB info - and proceed with the install

Akeeba will do the rest, no need to configure the configuration file it will happen automatically.

      It's AUTOMATIC.... :D
