I always spend tons of time deleting and fixing the rocket launchers' content. BUT I ALWAYS love the frontpage content done by the staff.
Have you ever thought of offering a simpler version of the rocket launcher that only included content items that are listed on the front page?
I for one would super-love and vote for that.
ALSO -- all the options chosen on the menu items should be set to USE GLOBAL so we only have fix it in one global place for the custom version of the site.
All the links at the top of the sites are always set to strange defaults on showing the icons or not etc... I realize you want the on site versions of the sites to look great on all pages, but when we are downloading and transferring content from old sites to the rocket-launcher versions I am certain I am not alone in sayihng that often times its more hassle than it needs to be to create the new site structure.
For example a 10 page website with standard menu items... I have to spend more than half my time deleting rt articles and modules from the mix.
Just a thought, to have a slim-rocket-launcher with ONLY a homepage and maybe one other link installed in them menu system.
We had considered this also Martin. It actually would mean a much easier conversion process from 1.5 to 1.7+
The only issue is that some people rely on the information in the 'demo' to explain things to clients. I think the trick is going to be a happy medium between providing enough useful information while at the same time, keeping it minimal so it can easily be removed or edited. Thanks for your thoughts!
Well I guess what I am picturing in my head is a full rocket launcher like you have now... but then just having a default script of some kind you run on it at the last step that would pull everything not associated with the homepage (or manually create the second version) then actually have a separate rocket-launcher-mini for download and installation. Therefore the current way would not be affected but there would be a new thing added to the downloads sections.
