      My hosting company is Netfirms and they recently migrated to a new server platform so I don't know if that had anything to do with it.

      Also, I haven't updated wordpress in a very long time because the last time I did it back in January, the site reverted completely back to the template default and I lost TONs of work.

      1. How do I backup the site/database so that if the update messes something up, I can restore it quickly?

      2. Why does this error happen in the first place.
