    • Hello,

A person wants me to redo his website but wants it to still be up while im building it since it may take a while for the new one to be totally set up and ready. Is there a way to build the site without taking down the first one? I want to use wordpress which i believe is already in use in the site.

      Thanks

    • I like to use subdomains off the original site. Something like test.originaldomain.com. Others will tell you that you should build on a local test server first.

I prefer using a subdomain because it is easy to pluck images, CSS, etc from the old site and place it in the subdomain's directories. Typically they're right next to each other in the file tree.
