Is it Possible to Deactivate the Gantry Template Framework

Posted 13 years 8 months ago
    • Hello,

I am having serious problems with my Omnicron wordpress site - in the Internet Explorer browser only:

      www.nowwhatstudio.com/

The theme completely falls apart in that browser.

In my wordpress Admin I see that there is a "Gantry Template Framework" plugin. Is it possible to deactivate this and still keep the visual properties of the theme?

This is a client site, and they are very upset so I need a solution quickly.

      Thanks in advance.

    • Hi, if you deactivate the Gantry Plugin the theme won't work at all. What problems are you having in IE? Deactivating Gantry won't fix it.

    • Hi Cliff,

      Thanks for responding.

Please look at my site in the INTERNET EXPLORER browser:

      www.nowwhatstudio.com/

If you compare it to how it looks in the Firefox/Mozilla or Google Chrome browser - you will see that in IE, the theme basically falls apart.

Also, I cannot have different widgets on different pages. I used plugins like Widget Logic and Widget Locationizer.

Of course, I did at first try using the Overrides - but this did not work.

I understand that I am not alone in these Gantry issues, as there are other posts regarding this in the forum - and you guys are working on a solution. The problem appears to be with the Gantry Framework.

So that is my problem - the site is not working in IE and I cannot get different widgets to appear on different pages.

I like the site design and so does my client - so I was thinking that maybe if I could turn-off the framework - then I could still keep the look and feel of the site, and maybe use default wordpress functionality. But as you advised, this will not work.

Please tell what you think can be done to solve these issues.

      Thanks in advance.

    • In this case i wouldn't blame IE because your site is seriously messed up. If you look at the HTML you will see that it doesn't even follow this simple standard:

    • On what Prim said, there are some very serious errors in your page, after running it through a validator it looks like some of your third party plug-ins could be to blame. Not sure how you built this site but there are some things that need to be addressed.

When you say the Overrides didn't work, what do you mean? Overrides are the only way to place widgets on different pages within the Gantry Framework. It's true that Gantry for WP is not perfect, but based on what you said I'm not sure if you are using it correctly. Can you specifically tell me which widgets are not behaving correctly and how you have them set up? That's the only way I can diagnose the problem.
