    Simple News Article Listing

Posted 13 years 8 months ago
    • Hey there,

I am using Camber J17 and can't seem to find a simple way to list my news articles like the image below.

This image is hidden for guests.

Could someone help me how I can do this and if there is any other extension out there that can disply articles like that for me?

      Many thanks,

    • K2 will let you do this.

If you install and set a few news items.
Then in the category settings you can set :

      Leading count = 0

      Primary count = 0

      Secondary count = 0

      Links count = 10

Same as these setting, just set the links image size to

It will create the pagination by itself and the page will display as you wanted.

    • Thanks for the help Ad,

This may be a stupid question to ask, but what Menu Item Type should I choose while creating a new menu?

    • I think its K2 categories, then select the news category.
It will then display the way you want it.

K2 items are different to Joomla articles! so dont get confused.

K2 will only display K2 items, the menu item you want is the category with the news within it so it becomes a list of news items.

K2 also allows you to have say 1 large intro news item with large image, then 2 smaller medium sized news items, then some links to say 5 news items that are just text.

Then when you add a new item, all the other items shift down the respected sizes below.

Its very versatile for displaying new items :)

    • I've tried using K2 Categories but this what I end up with

This image is hidden for guests.

I've also tried using all the other K2 Menu Item Types, but nothing works. I can't find a way to remove "More..." (as shown in the picture) and replace it with the date.

      Thanks

    • Try playing around with the other settings.
If you set 'Secondary Count' to 10 and image to --none-- , set the links to 0.
Then in the category view options set title to show and the description to hide and go through the settings until it shows how you want it too.
You may need a little CSS editing to get it exactly how you want but im sure its definitely possible with K2

    • I have tried playing around with it and so far I have managed to get to look like this:

This image is hidden for guests.

I manged to edit k2.css to make the article title font smaller, but couldn't find away to make the Page Title bigger, change the Times New Roman font of article links to Camber default font, and adjust the date format to MM,DD,YY (for example: June, 01 2011).

      Thanks,
