File & Folder Ownership Issues in Joomla re: templates

    • I need help. I have the Fantastico Deluxe programmed installed by my hosting provider. I am able to install Joomla directly from it. However, when I installed a new RocketTheme template, I get the dreaded "NOBODY" ownership issue which makes it impossible for me to edit the template for colors, etc.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

    • The aforementioned solution will take care of things for now.

You can also have your webhost correct the ownership--it is no big deal with shell access.

You can avoid this problem by using ftp to upload the template. Unpack it on your local computer and ftp to remote. Alternatively, you can upload the compressed file and unpack it on the server using file manager in cpanel.

I also believe that a server with phpsuexec prevents this from happening. Additionally, a server running phpsuexec is more secure in that it is easier to isolate a problem. Check with your host

    • JoomlaXplorer will allow you to change file permissions. So, through this component, you should be able to correct your ownership issues.
