    Broken Sections

Posted 13 years 7 months ago
    • All new sections that I add will not come up when articles are called.

Here is the url that is broken.

      ....../index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=159&Itemid=33

Instead of bringing up article 159 in section 33, it returns the homepage.

Here is the link that is being used

      <p>[readon url="index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=159&amp;Itemid=33"]Read More[/readon]</p>

When substituting another link to an article from an older section, all works fine. I have gone to the Joomla site and seen that others have experienced this for a number of different reasons.

I am using j1.5.21 and the Crystalline template.

I have changed htaccess. txt to .htaccess
      I have used no editor
      I have turned off SEO

New sections and some old sections are affected.

      What do I do?

    • Hi there,

Without a link to your site it is quite hard for us to provide the best solution due to so many variables. We try to provide file names and line numbers for code changes and if changes have already been made then our advice may be incorrect.

Can you please post a link to the problem and we will do our best to assist you.

      Thanks :)

    • Thanks, David. Appreciate you looking at it. I am still learning Joomla and Rockettheme. I think the software is what I need, but there are still a few things I am working out. This is a big one.
I will post the link. Will j1.7 make a difference?

    • Here is a link to an example of the problem.

      /index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=178&Itemid=1

In this case I got a 404 error, article not found.
In some cases, it just keeps me on the homepage.

    • I used rocket launcher to give me sample data. I am wondering if the old menu assignments have anything to do with my problem? And, if that creates a problem with one section, can it spread to my newly created sections? I do not follow why the .htaccess would create problems in this area. Surely others have had this problem while using rockettheme templates, but I cannot find anything by searching.

And, can someone explain what the "Section Title Linkable" does? I have left it on Global. I tried "yes", but it made no difference. Help!

    • Hi there,

You may have problems with some links if you have removed pages or menu items and missed some of the manual links in the sample content.

The link you provided is looking for article id 178. If you go to article manager and check the articles there will be an id number to the left. Is there an article with id 178? If not then you get a 404 page. If there is then we may have another issue.

Section Title Linkable just means that if you have a menu item that displays a list or blog then clicking on any section title will take you to that section. Same applies to Category Title Linkable.

I always recommend that people set up RocketLauncher as a guide to their site and then build their own site in a fresh Joomla install with the correct template and extension added. That way you can see any custom code in the RL version and replicate in own site if required.

      Hope this helps 8)
