Okay, I will create a file called overrides.css and put in the line:
text-shadow:none!important;

A silly question: Let's say if I wanted the background to be dark, not light. Will the code I copied into light.css also work the same on dark.css?

It's worth reading up about css and how to manipulate it. I don't know it all, but can do 99.9% of the things I need to without being an expert.
