EDIT: still a while away yet.

Like Peter Said earlier Daniel, how will this go, if it is to made fully GPL as Joomla imposes? (this one is CC-GNU GPL with some rights reserved, and you just cant get rid or links) when all boonex software are not released under full GPL. I have raised questions on the expertzz community and most of their software (the better advanced ones) are infact not free of cost. Will this be a cost efficient adventure and alternative to the current SMF bridges?

    • Still not entirely sure to be honest.

It will probably still have to be semi bridged in a meaningless extra layer of LGPL crud to avoid the risk of a lawsuit because we are producing non GNU/GPL open source software for Joomla. :P

EDIT: Look carefully at the license I think it might be GPL compatible. It is called the GNU/GPL-CC license after all.

Gah this is such a pain. 'Is my open source license compatible with GPL' is the question people are going to be having to ask every time they look at a program for Joomla...

    • Man, things are getting really tight here, cause i once tried this with Dolphin following their new release, which was a little more better than previous ones. But man that is i will not call it a full GPL liscence at all although it state that to get you in the game. It is more oc CC GPL. if you take a look at all Dolphin Sites, there is a big Boonex banner at the top or bottom, like to say it is affiliated to boonex, and again ALL no default "components" as we call them here on Joomla, you will have to buy them. Man thats $$

I am guilty but to my defense I asked for Mambo Template Club followed by couple of extra words.

    • There will be no more Real Estate Sites.

thats not entirely true daniel - there is a verygood GPL real estate software called CMS Realty

its a bridge for joomla and open realty - (although open realty is not GPL)

      And on the topic.

like andy said - its not only disrespectful that these devs have left users and joomla alone, its also bad business practice, all the users that paid there subscriptions should be entitled to what they paid for
      thats support and updates/bug fixes

i personally feel that joomla will come through this and in some months time we'll all be saying
"man that wasnt as bad as i thought it was gunna be"

there are always more devs primed and ready to take there place, its just a matter of waiting, till the storm blows over

the thing is - anyone who knows how and wants to - can create anything for joomla that they want

they dont have to release it - either free or paid - does that mean there breaking the rules of GPL
as there software is not GPL - i highly doubt it - and anyways who would know?

Additionally, the developers of the Hot Property Real Estate Component say that they are developing the latest version for J! 1.5. Now, I read this before the whole GPL fracas, so I cannot say for sure that this will still be developed.

      Cheers!
