    • Hello,

      I am very new to Joomla and website design in general and could use some suggestions on how to improve my sites performance.

      I am in development of a new site using RocketTheme's Modulus template. The dev site is located at http://www.vsiptv.com/joomla/

      Any ideas on how to improve performance?

      When I use FireFox's Firebug with YSlow add-on to test my site I get a "D" - rating = 67.

      One thing YSlow says is to use compression on CSS/JS, however if I use RokGZipper, all kinds of strange things happen and my site essentially stops functioning. I downloaded and tried ICE-Speed plugin and had better results as far as third-party modules still working, with the exception of my home page slideshow module (Skitter Slide-show from JoomClub). However even with compression my YSlow score only went from 67 to 69, still a D.

      I am currently using the following add-ons on the site.

      Skitter Slideshow
      FancyTabs
      swMenuPro
      sigPlus
      ChronoForms
      RAXO-All-mode-Pro

    • If you need speed then you shouldn't be using GoDaddy. This host is commonly referred to as SlowDaddy...

      Anyway, you should use some compressor such as RokGZipper or similar. Images should have a small file-size and you should use as few JS and Flash elements as possible because this can slow down the browser a lot.

      Try to keep your pages below 500 kB if you can.

    • the slow loading can be a result of a wide variety of factors but as prim has stated GoDaddy is oversold shared hosting. Also regarding any issue with RokGzipper it is probably a result of poorly designed 3rd party extensions that do not compress properly. In this case you can use the exclusion feature by adding the js file path to the plugin parameters for RokGzipper.
