Among all the wonderful Tips and Tricks from Ben and Dave and others, there is a huge black hole in the center of the RT galaxy. Simply put, we need a clear guide to the interactions and control of all the css files when one loads a template. The explanation Andy wrote on caching was perfect and saved us countless hours of discovery - we need a similar one on css overriding.
Is it possible, please please please, to have Andy or James write one of their superb cogent expanatory guides as to how template.css, gantry.css, joomla.css, and the Tiny/JCE editors influence the final display (and where changes are best made or not to be made) for these categories of things:
- Article body fonts/styles
- Title fonts/styles
- Third-party extension fonts/styles
- Line spacing
- Paragraph spacing
- ULs (bullets and numbers)
I, my team, and every single one of my clients is tearing their hair out over this, as we modify the css in one place to get a desired effect, and thus unwittingly create a problem in a seemingly unrelated area.
This would also have the effect of stopping the unhealthy rumblings from clients about how Gantry (with all its terrific features that we love), has vastly complicated the world of css modifications for basic things.
