Depends what template you're using I think. But you could create a module using the login for that particular module and assign it to the 'login' position.
add the captcha plugin and enable it to display in the login form, and now set the default joomla login form to display in the login position. have you at least tried this method?
if captcha is a plugin, it should display in the default joomla login form, yes? if so then by putting the default joomla login form in the login popup position the captcha should show. that is, if no custom rockettheme styling for the login form or popup is in the /html/ folder inside your template directory.
