    IE8 compatability issue

Posted 13 years 5 months ago
    • I'm using the kinetic theme, and its giving me issues rendering in IE8. No other browser breaks the site like this. Specifically, the menu bar across the top should act as a series of drop down menus, but in IE it becomes an un-formatted tree of sorts.

You'll see it right away if you look at www2.cgoh.org in IE8.

I'm sorry if this post is in the wrong place, but some support would be much appreciated.

    • What mode do you have IE 8 in?
Some times compat mode can break a site layout badly.

    • I turned on Compatibility view on my own computer....which didn't change anything. Not sure if that is what you mean. This is a problem on others computers when viewing my site with IE. Or is the compat mode referring to the set up of our drupal theme? Thanks, Kathy

    • Sorry, Im not a web designer by trade. Im a photographer now working at a Jewish temple and I have assigned the webmasters job. Our previous website was through our union and it was very easy to use and had a lot of technical support. We have been forced to switch to another company that offers a Jewish database as well as a website. Both of which run on Drupal. So I have been forced to learn Drupal. This company doesn't fully support the Kinetics Drupal theme that we have selected. They only support the "out of the box" themes. They loaded the theme onto their server..so Im not sure about the roknavmenu. I assume this is a modual that needs to be added? and that is is something they need to add? As for the link to the HTML validation with all the errors and warnings....UGH. What do I do with that? I dont know or use HTML...I just type in the boxes... Why does it get all screwy? The company now wants to change an additional $600 to fix the problem, on top of the thousands we already gave. Any advise would be (and has been) much appreciated.

    • I see it on Rockettheme..its says for Joomla, can that also be used with drupal? also, does it need to be downloaded to the server the hosts the original drupal theme or just download to my desktop?

    • no, joomla it a different CMS, so i Believe the rocknavmenu script and css should be installed together with the theme. So you need to check if the rocknav script it's uptodate in your installed theme.

Anyway you can always override this rendering issues with the css.
