"which" CMS you use will have absolutely ZERO effect on the SEO results you can achieve, "how" you do the SEO however is what will gain the results.
Our site is a Joomla site and ranks in the top 10 for every single keyword that we have optimized it for. This has nothing to do with the CMS system itself, rather the way it is optimized for SEO and the content itself.
In a nutshell, you can get the same results with whatever CMS you use, the CMS itself makes no difference.
Thank you, it's confirmation of what I already thought. A local company told one of my clients that Wordpress by far performs the best when it comes to Search Engine Rankings, because of the way it's put together...so I thought, what rubbish...
I have no problem with Wordpress and I think the only guide to choosing which CMS to take is the purpose of your site and that's it. The rest is upto your knowledge and skill to SEO.
There are many, many claims made about the pros and cons between Joomla and Wordpress. Each of them can do pretty much what the other can do so it's really down to personal preference and what you'll be using it for.
When it comes to SEO with either of them, good relevant, keyword rich content and relevant links back to the site are about all you'll need to get good rankings. SEO is changing a lot so good to keep up to date on all that's new and relevant to "now".
The main preference I have for Joomla over Wordpress is that I have found it easier to find and assess Joomla extensions using the JED compared with Wordpress extensions. As always when someone gives an opinion in the Wordpress vs Joomla debate, it may just be that I haven't learned the tricks of the trade with Wordpress extensions yet because I've spent more time with Joomla!
Likewise...Wordpress is a lightweight Blog site and should be evaluated as such. Joomla on the other hand is a heavy weight, suited for all purposes and this the reason why newbies could find the back-end a bit complicated compare to the limited Wordpress panel.
