Hi Guys,
Someone wants me ssh to their server and have given me a .pem file and IP address. I have NO clue how to do this or what this means?
does anybody have a simple explanation ? i searched google for hours.

Hi,
thanks for the reply. I got a program called WinSCP, which allows me to upload the file and enter the host..
the pem file contains the password but i still need a username right? would that be root? or do i need to ask him??

I get an error: Received too large SFTP packet

no idea.... this is so horrible why do they make things so difficult

Yes you should ask for more info. It's not possible for us to know how they setup their server.

Yeah, it would be so much easier with FTP+TLS
