  • SOLVED Switching Domain Names.

    • Hi there,

      I have a GoDaddy hosted domain name and hosting account, Wordpress, and a RocketTheme install. I was wondering that if I change my Domain name - can I somehow transfer everything over? Or is there some difficulty involved with the process?

      My Site: www.hatchetmedia.net

      I realize that the image location path names would change, which I am willing to go in individually and rename - but is there anything else that would have to change?

    • For Joomla, you can use Akeeba to back up and move your site.

      For WP you will have to seek some similar alternative, or do it manually.

    • I have Wordpress, though I'm not so sure what that similar alternative might be. Also I've never built a website before and to make my site like it is now has taken over a week - just to replace and fill in data. I'd really hate to have to set everything up from scratch and start over...

    • This is not really template related...

      You will need to search the WP forums (although there may be some useful topics here at RT) and see if there are instructions on how to back-up / move a site.

      Alright then I'll find a WP forum and ask there.

      Also - I'm a wordpress club member with "1 entitlement" - if I want to switch domains, not open a second one, do I have to spend more money? Because thats something I dont think I'm willing to do.

    • No, if you have one entitlement, and long as it's only on one site (domain), you are all set.
