SOLVED Assigned users can't log in to backend/frontend.
Posted 13 years 2 months ago
I've tested this myself, and have also looked in the Joomla forums, but no luck in finding an answer, so I thought I'd ask here.
I even tested this using one of my alternate emails, and even then, I wasn't able to log in. I've tried author, editor, and publier accesses, but still nothing.
Anyone have any ideas as to why the users I'm permitting access will not allow them to login? My site is in offline mode, since it's still in progress. Not sure if that has anything to do with it, although I don't think it does.

If you set your users to have access to the backend then they will be able to login to the backend. Only frontend if set to offline will prevent them to see the site unless they are super admins

I was looking at the 2.5 interface for users, and I've even gone into the options to allow authors, editors, and publishers to access the backend, but it still doesn't allow my alternate user to login, so I don't know what I'm missing.

OK. I have to admit that I don't understand anymore what exactly are you trying to achieve. Do you need to allow your authors, publishers and editors to access Joomla backend or do you need them to be able to login to the frontend while web site is set to offline?

I would like both, but right now, I'm more concerned about them having access to the backend. I realize that since the site is offline, it's probably not possible for them unless they're the super admin, which is me and no one else.
I'm in the process of have the site close to completion and need to start training them on how to work from the backend.

You will have to decide which features of the site backend do they need to be able to access and choose the right user level for them. Maybe Manager or Administrator only is sufficient for them

Thanks, Igor! Why did I not think of that. I thought the other options I chose would allow them to the backend, but I just had to set them to Manager or Administrator. I guess I was trying too hard. Marking this as solved.
