I'm not sure if I'm asking this question in the right place, so if I'm not please forgive me.
Anyway, I'm getting ready to move my sites to an upgraded server that has the latest mysql5.1 and php5.3 - or something like that - anyway I need to upgrade my sites from joomla 1.5 to 2.5 which seems like quite a jump and need to know what issues to look for and whether there will be database incompatabilities or whether there is a special method for importing the databases?
I have a site I'm moving that has vbulletin on it and it's beginning to look like an impossible task trying to import that database - I'm getting all kinds of mysql errors claiming that there are syntax errors in the tables. the version of mysql that I'm upgrading from is like 4.3 or something like that - (I'm not looking at it as I write this so I can't say for sure).
So long question short - is there a method or migration script or anything that will help me move my joomla sites to the upgraded server? I've been searching all day for answers and haven't come up with anything yet that I can understand. I'm no database expert, by any means...but apparently the older database tables are incompatible with the new ones and I've no idea of how to fix that or rewrite the tables.
Anyone have any ideas for me? Thanks!

Thank you SOOOOO much!
I guess I do have quite a job in front of me, I've already got brick marks on my forehead from beating my head against the wall trying to import the forums - I can only begin to imagine what must be in store for my joomla sites.
