I didn't mention any bitterness.. just that there is some healthy competition going on behind the scenes.

:( I'm quite disappointed to hear that there isn't. Competition is a good thing.

Good to hear about the bridge Andy... onwards and upwards, as my old friend Dave Gee often exclaimed :)

Here I is!! My ears were itching! I knew someone was talking about me.

I'm trying to put up a Joomla/RT photography website using the Dimensions template. LOOK FOR A POST ABOUT THIS. I have some concerns!

See ya Gollum, James and Andy!!

    • Boy oh boy can't wait... :) But, I have yet another question, were would I be able to download the bridge? Is the bridge for Joomla 1.0.3, or 1.5?

    • Thank you, I guess I will be reinstalling both sites that I have. Just going to do it from scratch, not going to loose much, so I am not that worried about them!!!

    • I found this on Joomla's phpbb forum this morning - seems someone has created something like a rocketlaunch to include phpbb on a Joomla install.

I'd like to know if ROCKETTHEME.COM plan to incorporate something like this?

I would argue that phpbb3 is so simple to get up and running that the RocketTheme community would be better served with phpbb3 templates in the launcher! :)

    • Thank you for all the hard work on this bridge. I tried it out last week and I prefer it to jFusion. I am now working out the best way to integrate my new, fresh Joomla site with my old phpBB3 forum.

I am wondering if I could get some advice on this thread, I don't know if it's the best place so please excuse me if my noobness is misplacing this post.

Anyway, I have a small community forum (9 users) where we now have many thousands of posts. I want to start having a more centralized hub by using a Joomla site as a launch pad and also as a way to consolidate other aspects of my community site. I have tried out RokBridge and like the way it works. What would folks recommend as the best way to migrate my phpBB3 forum into my new site using RokBridge?

My first thought is to install my Joomla at my root, leave my phpBB3 folder in place, use RokBridge, and then have my users create new accounts through the Joomla login/register module.

I'd rather them not create new accounts. More expert advice would be nice as I would hate to wipe out a database in the process.

      Many thanks.

    • I thought that the title page for each viewed thread assumes the title of the thread itsef; this is not the case? I guess since they are wrapped, it makes sense...just thought the bridge somehow addressed this need...no?

    • I can see that I wasn't quite clear enough. Thanks for pointing that out, I will take a stab from a different angle and be more specific.

I currently have my php install at root/phpBB3.

I did a temporary test install of Joomla, a seperate (new) phpBB3, and did my RokBridge install at root/Joomla15/ to test out RokBridge and to practice with Joomla.

Once RokBridge is out of RC and I want to bridge my root/phpBB3, is it as simple as installing a new Joomla (using a Rockettheme install) in my root folder and bridging with RokBridge to root/phpBB3?
