Advice needed for a compatible forum

Posted 12 years 10 months ago
    • Hi

Im new to RocketTheme and Joomla!
A couple of years ago i was pretty aktive with php Nuke sites and templates but that was kind of long time ago.
Back in the days i hosted a couple of gaming sites for WorlOfWarcraft and the Battlefield PC gaming communities.

Now I'm back, and i will start 1 member site for Battlefield3 gamers.
I have looked at this club stuff and i like it. I tried it a couple of month before and it was great i learned a lot. And now I'm about to renew my membership and start the project with some fresh stuff.

Im gonna use the new Joomla! release and a matching template.

But now to my question, I need a great forum.. like this one that is compatible with RocketTheme and smooth in administration as a (back in the days i used the ported to Nuke, phpBB). =)
You that are experienced, what do you recommend and whats the pro's and con's.
I want full compatibly with RocketTheme most of all, very little customization. And preferably as good as this one with all the features.

What do you recommend, please give me some advice?

    • We are using phpbb3 and as you can see we also have Joomla and phpbb3 templates. If you want completely integrated solution, go with Kunena forum

    • Thank you.
Yes, i want it integrated, as in not having two places to manage rights/access and users. I Will give Kunena a try. does it support RocketTheme in any way?

    • Hi Ante,
Kunena has an option in the admin end that lets you blend the kunena template with the default template of your site; and it most often does the job quite nicely. If you want to make a few changes to colours then that can be done from the backend as well. Otherwise, it's default settings in configuration manager are pretty neat and generally you won't need to make much change. Most of all being so popular an extension, it has quite a lot of add ons that you can download from JED.
      Regards!
