Auto-generate last site update details

Client wants a line on front page indicating the date of the most recent update to the site.
Any tips on doing this in Joomla? (did a search on Joomla.org for 'last update' but that returns every thread as that phrase is included in messages by the forum software).

Hmm would be difficult to do for specifics...but perhaps you could somehow pull the admin's last logon date from the database and just echo that on the screen...could work.
Failing that, just make a user module and let the client update the date manually. - Toolbox Digital | Dribbble | Forrst

Sound interesting, got me very interested.
What if you look at the #_content table for the last modified or created date and use it. This is if client is only interested in the update to the content but if clients wants to include new modules, components and all then there are a lot of tables to look at
It's possible!

Don't know whether this module may help, or even give you ideas. You will need to log in to see/download:
http://www.redevolution.com/option,com_docman/task,cat_view/gid,14/Itemid,41/ , it says that it is a simple module thatlooks for the most recently created or edited item in the content table and uses it for the latest date to output in a 'Site last updated' module.
