Can't see "Menu Control"

  • Can't see "Menu Control"

Posted 12 years 6 months ago
    • Pretty new to Joomla and templates, but I've managed to install my first theme, Radiance. I got the bundle as it's going into a vanilla 2.5.6 install, locally for now and assume I need to install rok nav and gantry, so I've installed :-
        com_gantry
        lib_gantry
        mod_roknavmenu
        plg_system_gantry
        plg_system_rokextender
        rt_radiance

I can see the theme, but I wish to change it to the colours and background to suit. In the docs it says :-

"Go to Extensions → Template Manager → rt_radiance_j15 → Menu Control to find all the parameters for Fusion Menu and Splitmenu, such as transitions, duration and sublevel position."

I can go to Go to Extensions → Template Manager → rt_radiance, but I have no "Menu Control". I'm clearly missing something or a setting somewhere, but can't seem to see what I'm missing in the docs.

      Any help gratefully accepted.

      Cheers

    • Thanks for the reply, Nanci,

      I haven't installed 1.5 I've installed 2.5.6, it's just the instructions that list 1.5

In my 2.5.6 install I have some demo/real content, it's just that I don't actually see "Menu Control" where it describes in the documentation.

i.e. for my install I should select :-

      "Go to Extensions → Template Manager → rt_radiance_default → Menu Control "

      but at

"Go to Extensions → Template Manager → rt_radiance_default" I don't see any "Menu Control" or any way to change the colours/ background image etc.

      Cheers

      Ian

Once you've installed RokNavMenu in your Template Manager you should see this screen:
This image is hidden for guests.
Please log in or register to see it.

Its the Menu that gives you control over the basic functionality of the Main Menu.
If you need further styling of the mod_roknavmenu beyond what the Presets and Style tab would provide, then you would have to supply that CSS yourself.

    • Dan,

"Once you've installed RokNavMenu in your Template Manager you should see this screen:"

I just don't have that as an option. See attached screenshot. That's what I've got.

    • Looks like it's something missing from the bundled theme.

I've just downloaded and installed the rocket launcher and it's there. I'd feed back to Rocket Theme that there's something missing from their "I already have Joomla x.x installed, I just need all functionality from the rocket theme adding" installation.

      ... Just my 2c as a newbie.

I think we're shooting arrows each other's heads and not hearing them whizz by
Okay the bundle in your first post refers to this:
For Joomla 2.5 we offer 3 installation packages:
      1. RocketLauncher which is a Joomla core installation, the template itself and the Gantry framework which is like the Control Panel for the template.
This package needs an empty folder on your server and you will get your Joomla core installed, the Gantry framework and the template. During installation choosing to install "Sample Data" will make the installed site look like the demo.

      2. Bundle which is the Gantry framework and the template itself.
This package is used when there is a previous Joomla installation with a non-Rockettheme template installed. After installation you have the required the Gantry framework and the template. No "Sample Data" is offered as your Database already contains site content information.
      3. Template Standalone which is the template itself.
This package is used when there is a previous Joomla installation with a Rockettheme template installed. Since Gantry would have been previously installed, it's only required to install the template (although upgrading to the latest Gantry is highly recommended). Again no "Sample Data" is offered as your Database already contains site content information.

Now when you install a template on a Joomla core there is no built-in mod_roknavmenu like there is for the RocketLauncher. So you have to install it to provide a RokNavMenu for your menu.
In the RocketLauncher the Main Menu mod_roknavmenu is directly part of the template so you can access some features from the Template Manager.

However the RokNavMenu you create as a module to use as your main menu would have its functionality changed in the mod_roknavmenu module's parameters.

Are we in sync now or have I somehow missed the arrow point again

    • Hi there,
I have never seen this before and have used rocketlauncher hundreds of times.
At the end of the fracture rocket launcher, joomla gives the option to install 3 different types of sample data. This is brochure data / blog data / default data

Which one to choose for correct installation?

I chose brochure data and it installed without the template and had a joomla template there and no modules. Any ideas?
