Can I install a 2.5 template over an existing 1.5?

If I have a working 1.5 template but there has since been made available a 2.5 version, do I need to delete the 1.5 and start again or is it a simple upgrade. Please advise as this may save me a HEAP of time.

Thanks Prim. I guess what I would like to know is am I updating the 1.5 template to work within the 2.5 version once I have installed the 2.5 version? Will everything still display the same as it was in the 1.5 within the 2.5?
Or am I better off just installing the 2.5 rocket launcher version and then mirror the 1.5?

I don't know how much stuff you have on your site but the easiest would be to install the Rocketlauncher for Joomla 2.5, rebuild the part of the content that you need and then copy your old content to the new installation.
There are tutorials on how to re-create the demo content in the specific template forum.
