Upgrading Wordpress from Modulus 1.0 & Gantry 1.0

    • I have a big Worpress site built on Gantry 1.0 using Modulus 1.0 from early last year. Have been having some minor issues here and there and upgrading would be the right thing, plus we like to upgrade ever year or so on active sites/clients. Especially if RT is keeping the themes and framework upgraded.

I've never upgraded a RocketTheme setup before.

I see that Gantry is at 1.31 but I can't tell what what version Modulus is on. The only thing that the Modulus page says is that Gantry 1.23 is required.

Is it safe to say that this latest theme will go with the latest Gantry? Or vice versa. I assume they're all compatible and maybe even required to go with each other, but without ever upgrading before, I'm not sure the exact requirements. Surely don't want to break my site ;)

I guess the secondary question is "Is it worth upgrading?" knowing my current versions. Is it worth me re-joining for the sake of getting the latest?

    • Hi,
Is it safe to say that this latest theme will go with the latest Gantry?
You can update the Gantry Framework without updating the theme. With each update we maintain backward compatibility so it does work with themes that have been built before. You could also update both and enjoy the new features and updates. :)
      Is it worth upgrading?
Definitely. The thing is WordPress is updated regularly and changes are made to the admin interface or database and so, Gantry must be updated as well to ensure compatibility. So if you're updating WordPress (and I'd recommend you do for security sake at least), update the Gantry Framework plugin as well to make sure they work nicely with each other.

Consider using the custom stylesheet for all your CSS customizations: gantry-framework.org/documentation/wordp...custom_stylesheet.md .
