Old template / upgraded Joomla version?

Hi all,
I had purchased templates here in the past, but that was a while ago, and I no longer have access to the template-specific forums. However, my question is somewhat general, so hopefully someone can help...
I am building a site (J2.5), and want to use an older template (Replicant 1) because of the transparent body design. However, in the past when I tried uploading the template (intended for J1.5), the site went completely blank - just a white screen. Is there any way to make an old template work on a new site? Or do I have to downgrade the site to J1.5?

You would need to invest time to redevelop older template to the J2.5. Why don't you use Replicant 2 template?
