    • I am updating a website for a client that currently enjoys a #1 ranking. We're moving from the Joomla Equinox template to the Wordpress Fresco template. The bulk of the content remains approximately the same. However, I am concerned that they may lose their #1 ranking in the move and thus I have a couple of questions.

      1) The main thing that I have noticed is that when looking at the source of the pages, the content moves down several hundred lines. In terms of size, the content on the old site starts at about 5k into the page whereas it starts at about 9k on the new site. I don't see any way to avoid this. Is it going to be a problem?

      2) Every page on the site is using a Gantry override and the main content section is turned off. All of the content is being placed in the "content top" widget position. How do these overrides fair in SEO vs a page that is not using an override? Is there any difference? Does it matter?

I haven't really been keeping up with SEO best practices in the past couple of years. From a human standpoint, the new site looks worlds better than the old site. I'm just afraid that from a search engine standpoint, it may look worse.
