Mobile RT quetions

    • I have a Web site that uses 2 templates. There's the main Web site for a non-profit, and what amounts to a sub-site for a particular interpretive program. Two templates, two menus and two sections. Using J 2.5.

Mobile devices never see the menu for the sub-section. On a desktop device, users see the second menu when they go to the second section, but on mobile devices the first menu is displayed. Users cannot navigate around the sub-site. I have tried to make all sub-site pages mobile-friendly, so the lack of a menu is frustrating.

Site is skagitbeaches dot org subsite is trail tales.

    • Hello Art,

Unfortunately I am not sure how to access your sub site. Is it supposed to be trailtales.skagitbeaches.org?
    • Kind regards,
      Reggie

    • Oops, I forgot that I had hidden the main site menu item linking to the sub site. I have turned it on. Main site is at skagitbeaches.org. subsite is linked from Trail Tales menu item. Or directly go to http://www.skagitbeaches.org/trail-tales-home.html .

    • could you please clarify what the issue is. I am looking at your site on my iphone and it seems you do not have the mobile version activated in the template manager.

this is what I see in your site.

    • Thanks for answering...I see something different.

This image is hidden for guests.
Please log in or register to see it.

And, looking at our two screenshots, you can see the different menus.

I have it enabled mobile in both templates. And, on my iPhone5, on the front page, I see the sliding menu bar. Looks like I need to do a little more work on the home section (meaning Category) for skagitbeaches. Like create a properly-sized logo. But, when you click Trail Tales menu item in the mobile version, you get to the Trail Tales home page (Category blog), but rather than getting the second menu which I associated with the Trail Tales category, I see the main menu, thus no way to get around.

If you look at the site in a full screen browser, you'd see different menus for the home section and the Trail Tales area.

I may not have organized the site properly. But, this is the first time I've tried what amounts to a site within a site. Ideally, I would have skagitbeaches.org home, then Trail Tales with a URL of skagitbeaches.org/trailtales, but as it is, Trail Tales is at skagitbeaches.org/trail-tales-home.

A separate problem here is that once I look at the site in my iPhone and see the mobile menu, then go to the site on my Mac, I see the mobile menu, not the real menu. Clearing the cache in Joomla clears that problem. Should caching be turned off? I posted a different post here on that problem.

    • Art,

You might try putting the Joomla sub-site on a completely different database and folder in file manager. That might help.

      Kind regards,

      Reggie
