Will Gantry make this respsonsive - Help please...

I hope I may explain this correctly.
I have a template which a client of mine purchased off TF Themeforest. It is a Joomla 2.5 template and it is using Gantry (but not the latest version). If I were to update the Gantry framework to the latest version of Gantry which I presume it is responsive... will it then make the template a "responsive" template?
If you need an example just search for the "NeXT" corporate theme on Themeforest and maybe you could answer my question. I would rather use a Rocket theme for my client but the template that she like is not scheduled for a responsive development.
Any ideas or help wold be much appreciated.
