how to run joomla 2.5 live from sub folder?

- i'm running joomla 1.5. i have install joomla 2.5 in a sub folder. currently, the new website address is www.mywebsite.com/v1 . How to make it as the default website with address www.mywebsite.com without deleting the current installation? in another word, can i run the new website from the sub folder? thanks
