Howto customize template-default main menu like other module

I think the default RT template navigation menus is a Roknavmenu module. However, while we can manually add a Roknavmenu module, the navigation menus comig with the templates can't be customized like a module. There are only some simple settings in template edit options.
Is there anyway I can do this?

- You can always disable menu in template config and publish RokNavMenu module in the same module position
