HELP: eCommerce!

    • Hi,

I'm a big fan of RT and use your templates exclusively on joomla sites that I develop. Where I am REALLY struggling is in providing my clients with ecommerce sites that are affordable, functional, and fast.

I'll say it here for anyone who doesn't know it yet: Virtuemart 2 is a total disaster. If you're considering building an ecommerce site or upgrading from Virtuamrt 1.1.9 - get off that platform!

Has RT considered creating its own eCommerce solution? I believe it can only be done successfully by a for profit company like RT.

My vision is an eCommerce system integrated with RT templates, rocketbooster, AND a contact form system (since rocketbooseter is incompatible with chronoforms) - delivering eCommerce that works and can perform for the search engines.

For the record, I'm considering going back to designing html sites in Dreamweaver. It seems that Joomla, Wordpress, Magento, are all so heavy and bulky that they are becoming not worth using.

If anyone knows of an excellent ecommerce system that I can deploy for clients, please let me know what it is!

I'm just curious why you consider VM2 a total disaster?

I was thinking the same, maybe something like have the roksprocket module to grab content from VM will be great.

Regarding rokbooster and chronoforms, you can allways skip those files in the plugin config.

I think you will have hard times finding an ecomerce solution that has good SEO, most of them will generate a lot of repeated content and horrible urls, but you can use a component like sh404sef and customize every single link and meta data to meet your needs.

Try Hikashop, it does not have the features of VM but its easy to use.
