    Joomla 3 in production environment

Posted 11 years 8 months ago
    • Hello.
Need an advice about which setting is typically used when installing Joomla on Linux (Red Hat) web server. Here I mean which server to use (as far as I know it's Apache), which DB (apart from MySQL). Finally what is optimal and secure setting for Joomla 3 ?
Because for now I'm on XAMPP or LAMP but these guys are used normally for testing purposes not for real deployment. Am I wrong ?

    • For me I won't put my production sites to J3 until they release a stable J3.5. You can read about the Joomla stages on the Joomla site.

Before you decide to go J3, make sure that you do your "due diligence" in ascertaining that all the extensions and possible popular extensions you may wish to use are certified by the developer to be run in that Joomla version.

This is the ONLY way I develop! I use WAMP to flesh out a layout to a client then use Akeeba to deploy the early development to a live server for the client to see.

You can also enable your local server to be seen on the web but I'm a little paranoid about security so personally don't use that option.
