    SOLVED fresco in 3.1

Posted 11 years 7 months ago
    • Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if there will be a compatibility update to Fresco for Joomla 3.1? I would like to upgrade my site to 3.1 before 2.5 goes away this spring and I would prefer not to change templates if I can avoid it. I am not in a particular hurry, but I would just like to know whether or not this is in the works. Thanks.

      Jon

    • See http://www.rockettheme.com/joomla-templates/compatibility-matrix Fresco already work in J3 - it was originally done for j3.0 but works fine with J3.1 too,

First, be aware that even Jooomla don't recommend that you use J3 for production sites yet (but plenty of people do). Personally I'm keeping all my sites to J2,5 until LTS J3.5 becomes available.

But, if you want to update to J3...

      1. BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!
      2. update all RT extensions, Gantry and template to latest versions - and clear SERVER cache
      3. Test in J2.5 that everything is still ok
      4. BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP
      5. upgrade Joomla to J3.1 from control panel, and clear SERVER cache
      6. test your site

      Regards, Mark.

    • I didn't realize that - I guess I will wait until 3.5. I was confused because the Joomla download page says that 3.1 is recommended for all NEW sites (not 2.5). However, it also recommendeds waiting until 3.5 if you are already running 2.5, which I didn't see the first time I visited the page. So, I guess I need to re-ask my question - will Fresco be updated for 3.5 or is it too soon to know that yet? :)

BTW: I only asked this question originally because the rockettheme template compatibility matrix ( www.rockettheme.com/joomla-templates/compatibility-matrix ) does not explicitly say that this template is compatible with 3.1. It lists many other templates as being compatible with 3.1, but Fresco says 3.0. Perhaps this page should be updated?

    • Fresco will work on J3.5 as and when that becomes available. From memory I think it said "j3.0" because that was what was included in the rocketlauncher at the time of the conversion to J3.0 - but things move on... rest assured it does work with J3.1... and I will pass on your comment about updating the compatibility matrix to reflect that.
