Does CMS2CMS for Joomla Migration really work?

  • Does CMS2CMS for Joomla Migration really work?

Posted 11 years 7 months ago
    • I'm trying to find the easiest and safest way to migrate my sites from Joomla 1.5 to 2.5 (I'm way late...). CMS2CMS.com seems VERY easy, but does it work?

I searched the RocketTheme forums but did not find even one mention of CMS2CMS, which makes me think nobody here has tried it. If not, than what is the best way to migrate without losing my template, short of completely starting over? How Did You Do It?

      Thanks.

    • I have tried the trial of that to move from Joomla to Wordpress a few months ago. The content moved ok and categories. Pictures didn't work, so obviously would have had to fix that. Nothing else really carried over, that wouldn't need more work. I really can't comment more then that as I was expecting it to atleast get the images working on it's own and so I stopped right there.

Can't comment on Joomla to Joomla though, that could work better I would hope.

Let us know if you try it. But do try the free trial, it does a bit of your site so you can see how it works.

    • I do not recommend them.

Tried to convert small forum (200 users + 2000 comments in 200 topics) to Kunena for $. Correspondence proceeded month with them! All texts was merged in a monolithic bricks, attachments/pictures were absent, lacunas in comments, empty users etc

All I got for ~100$ is a link for sql dump of a totally new simple site with kunena installed and text garbage instead of normally looking forum.

    • Wow. But having implemented migration from a few forums to Kunena and after migrating a few Joomla 1.5 sites to 2.5 I have to say that moving content from one system into another is never fun and takes a lot of time unless the migration process is done as a part of development. This is because of migration is always reverse engineering process and takes hours after hours to get it even close. And importing users over is even harder than moving the content.

But I would have expected more for $100..
