Vortex Main Menu Problem

  • Vortex Main Menu Problem

    • I am currently developing a joomla site using the Vortex template.

The problem is that it is a rather large website with a number of different tree menus. What happens is that I have the five main buttons and their corresponding sub menus all controlled within the 'main menu' at the backend of the site.

So for example. If I go to one of the main menu sections 'LEARN' and then click on the sub level called ' Online Course' and all the main menu navigation is displayed.

If I move to a menu on the left hand side - for example a Tree Menu created with SWMenu then the main menu navigation 'closes up' and all I am left with is the 5 buttons and a grey bar where the sub nav items should be.

Is there anyway to keep all this active while I browse pages away from the 'Main Menu'?

It is possible in SWMenu using an option called 'ACTIVE MENU' Is this something that is used in this menu?

I hope all this makes sense and that someone can shed some light on this.

      Regards,

      Peter

    • can you provide a link to your site, so that we may see what you are describing?

    • The main menu module in your backend should have the same option: "Full Active Highlighting".

It's often a hit and miss affair getting Joomla menu item's to stay active.

If someone else here knows a fool-proof method, I'd like to hear it too :)

    • when i click on your second level menu item ' Online Course', get the following:
The encoded file /home/physioto/public_html/test/components/com_joomla_lms/joomla_lms.php has expired.

    • Sorry - the above was just a general example. Try This.

      Click on the 'Care' Button.

      Then click on 'case studies'

then a menu should appear on the left. Click on one of the menu options in the tree and you will see what occurs.

      Thanks

    • The side menu is a separate menu altogether from the top one. Just being published on a page reachable via the main menu does not make it a child of the main menu.

I understand, but is there anyway to link the side menu module to the main menu in some way so that it knows to stay open when the user clicks away from main menu options?

On a user note. How do you guys feel about it? Does it detract from the user experience. Bascially is it confusing.

    • I'm sorry I'm out of ideas on this one. Hopefully someone else here has a good solution for you.

From a user perspective, yes it is confusing.

Yeah its quite a tricky one to solve.

It almost like you have to seperate the main menu from the rest of the site so it works standalone while you navigate another menu in the site.

Is there a file in the Joomla core that controls this main menu navigation that is shown in the Vortex menu?
