    • I don't know if it is 'normal' - but I have definitely gotten both in the past, as someone who both writes and designs.

The best way to deal with either is pretty much the same.

      > Work through it, but don't force it. Meaning, treat it as a job, set specific times to work on it; but don't be too hard on yourself for slow progress.

      > Find different approaches to the end goal. This may involve trying to start from scratch (and maybe more than once), or at least backing up a few steps in the design/writing process.

      > Work on different parts of the project.

      > Ask for input and help from your peers.

      > Google for more help on writer's block, there are as many methods out there as there are writers, and we all respond differently to different stimuli.

    • It's really normal to get blocks ... and it's helpful to tryout a couple of techniques.
There a lot more than the mentioned above.
See these techniques like a tool box. Creativity is also craftsmanship ... developing ideas is nothing that just comes and goes. You need to to work on that.
Only amateurs just rely on intuition.

Btw. often the "block" is just the fear to make decisions on a white canvas caused by too much pressure. Get rid of the pressure and let it flow ...

Overall ... interesting topic. What triggers ideas and creativity.

    • Thanks for the tips! Sometimes I feel like a zombie just staring at the screen into oblivion. I don't have too much of a problem when I am following a set of instructions from a client, it's mainly when I am working on one of my own sites. In this case it is my poker league site at www.masterspokerleague.com .

Times are hard and it seems downsizing is the only way to stay afloat at the mo. I think it looks ok and I only get praise from my users. I am using Lumiere and have refrained from using the video bg cos for fear of losing the pateince of the potential new customers due to the slower loading speed. Most of my customers are pubs that have bog standard laptops.

Also I have spent a lot of time getting it to look great on mobile. I had one person say the leaderboards look better than some apps they have tried, but they are on Metropolis.

I feel I am suffering from fear of "Fixing something that isn't broke". Should I persevere or start from scratch, that is the question. :o
