can Joomla handle a million plus users

Hi,
I just wanted your professional opinion on if one of your Joomla templates, combined with JoomSocial, very few other plugins, a dedicated server that we upgrade as needed can handle a million plus users. I know there are a lot of variables at play and that hosting is a big part of it. I really trying to figure out if Joomla can handle it. Do you guys know of any other Joomla websites that have that many users?

I would think joomla would be the least of your worries with a million users. I have seen sites with thousands of users, even a couple with tens of thousands of users - but a million? I think that would be really pushing it with joomla. If you have a million users I don't think Joomla would be your solution - it sounds more like a bespoke development to me - built from scratch.
But I will also say that you might be better off asking this question in the Joomla forums on their site.
