I have a question on a step I may be completely missing and hopefully I can clearly state what I'm trying to say!
When I assign a module to a menu (split menu) that has sub menu's I usually only want that module to display on that menu page, not the subsequent articles. For example, The menu item could be Departments. On that page, I have latest articles displaying for each of the sub menus using the latest article module. When I click on an article from the module, the article will display with all those modules as well. I'd really like the modules to stay just on Departments.
You need to create hidden menu items for those articles...
Create a MENU called "hidden" (no need to create a module to place it anywhere). In the hidden menu, create a MENU ITEM for each of the orphaned articles (single article type) and make sure these menu items are published. Now the hidden menu won't appear on any of your pages, but, the articles will now open in their own page.
Regards, Mark.
