SOLVED Not Authenticated w/ Rockettheme?

  • SOLVED Not Authenticated w/ Rockettheme?

    • What is the purpose of the authenticate with Rockettheme in the newer templates?

I try to strip any and all unneccessary menus, modules, admin stats etc...so that when the site is in use it's very easy to navigate for the beginner. I'm not liking the idea of adding more and more things that can't be removed without a ton of hours spent tracking down the code responsible etc.

My guess is this is an attempt at stopping people from stealing rockettheme templates?

    • If you are referring to the Update manager and the message that shows there, then this can easily be removed if you uninstall RokUpdate Joomla plugin. That plugin, in case you input your login and password from the RT club, allows you to update club extensions automatically through the update manager. In case you don't want to use that, you can remove the plugin completely

    • Why after you have authenticated the template it reverts back to (not authenticated w/ rockettheme) needing authentication, just after a few days?

    • I really don’t like this
I understand that RocketTheme have paying extension and they should have some kind of mechanism to accept an auto update for them.

What I really don’t like is that Rocket use a personnal user login — They should use a upgrade key - Not a User Login (like Akeeba)

I’m reselling sites and I don’t want my Personnal User Rocket login to be accessible.

like igor already mentioned, the authentication is NOT in any way used for you to verify your rockettheme TEMPLATES.

it is purely related to the rokupdater plugin which appears in the > extensions manager > update screen.
its sole purpose is to allow you to update rockettheme CLUB extensions, which at the moment we do not have anyways. (all our joomla extensions are FREE at the moment.)
please read more about rokupdater here:
      www.rockettheme.com/joomla/extensions/rokupdater

if you do not wish this icon to appear in your control panel, simply disable/uninstall rokupdater.

      hi there,

what do you mean you're reselling sites? purely reselling is not allowed under our Terms of Service.
and at the moment we do not have any club extensions, so just uninstall rokupdater.

    • I am a member of RT Club, the "Joomla Developer" plan member.

Well, after I install one of RT template to the Joomla website of my clients, they always ask me:

"Is this a genuine RT template? Why there is a warning messege saying: Not Authenticated w/ RocketTheme ?"

Please tell me, how should I explain to my clients that I am a real Paid member of RT templates and I am installing genuine RT template on their website?

I think this message is very annoying! You should remove it from those templates for "Developer Club" templates.

      Thanks.

    • I'm not sure you understood the issue from a developers perspective (your customer) as I agree with original post.

We are a "Developer Template Member" and we've use your templates at times to build web sites for our clients.
When our client's staff, or our developers go into the "Updates" area the notice below shows up at the top continuously.

"Authenticated with RocketTheme as [COMPANY NAME]: RocketTheme Member"

      It's my opinion that:
      1) This alert is an eye-sore and it should not be there. Plesae make it less prominent and distracting, if it has to be there at all.
      2) Having to re-enter this a second time makes no sense at all as it makes our clients call us back as they think there is an issue with the license and then we have to get involved because we can't give them our login to your system. This results in us having to do work for free due to a poor process.
      3) A better process, that other companies use (Like RSJoomla), is to issue a site license # for each domain we install a template on. This way we enter the license once and it's done. We are never asked by a client for our login and pass into our Rocket Theme account and it shouldn't show our Company name in your alert.

Thanks for your consideration and hard work on great templates.
