Error with Clarion theme when upgrading to Joomla 3

I have copied my existing website which uses following:
- Joomla 2.5.16
- Clarion v1.2
- Gantry v4.1.8
and put it in a test server so I could upgrade to Joomla 3.2.1 and Gantry v4.1.20. The upgrade was successful and the admin area works perfectly but when I try to view the front end of the website, I get the following message:
Fatal error: Call to a member function init() on a non-object in /home/prestedg/public_html/australiadental/templates/rt_clarion/error.php on line 20
I switched to one of the other site templates and the site loaded fine. I even uninstalled the Clarion template and reinstalled it but still get the message.
Any help would be muchly appreciated.
