Turning off Components in Gantry

  • Turning off Components in Gantry

    • I am using the basic Gantry Theme and I have turned off the following:

      Display Component set to off:

But my component want to always display itself within the homepage.

The old Gantry systems had a menuless option that allowed me to get the component to work.

What is the trick to this in Joomla 3.0 ?

    • 1. "Display Component set to off" only works with the menu-item-type featured articles
      2. "menu-less pages" is not possible with Joomla 2.5 and 3
      3. you might want to take a look at NoNumbers Advanced module manager to get more control

    • Here is what I dont understand:

If I set my component listings page (view) in the menu manager and toggle it as the home page everything works. Problem is that is not my home page. I don't understand how Joomla 3 is working.

    • What the "Display Component" option will do is to not show the component area of every menu item that you set as 'Featured Articles' regardless if its a home page or not.

There is a lot of posts about this same issue because a wrong naming, instead of 'Display Component' in template administrator, it should be called something like 'Show Featured Articles'

    • Since its used for pages with modules only that name seems OK for me ... it hides the component.
At the end its a simple php condition check for "featured articles" in the layout files of gantry.
Otherwise many would use that option and would hide the component in all menu-items.
You could of course use a template style/copy ... but keep in mind template-styles weren't always available in Joomla ...

    • So here is what I have:

Component that is generating homes listings.
I have created a menu item in a unpublished menu item called XYZ.
I have created a link on that menu which points to the details page.
I have created an override for that page so that I can control the layout Sidebar a etc.

Everything works fine except the details page. The details page loads on the front page of the site. If I set the details page to the default home page in the menu manager it works. But than when you go to the actual home page the url says kjdfkjdf/home

All I am trying to do is get the component to not load within the front pages component section.

so you have a third party component, in that case, this issue is not related with Display Component feature, as I stated in last post, it will ONLY work for native joomla content component ( Featured Articles menu item ).

I you can post a link to your website will be easy to analyze.
In other hand, if you want to have better control over module publishing, try Advanced Module Manager, with AMM you can control if a module is published in component basis and many other options.

    • PM received.
your 3rd link (Details page) is not working.
Can you disable joomla SEO? so I can take a look of the url string.
