    RocketTheme own Site menus font look horrible in Safari ?

    Posted 11 years 2 months ago
    • I ask the question in the Metropolis forum (without any answers) as I beleive it was template related.
      www.rockettheme.com/forum/joomla-templat...afari-only-home-page

      After, I realise that the menu fonts for the RocketTheme actual Main Site look exactly the same.
      Ugly an tiny in Safari, but Ok in all other browsers.

      I think this should be explain and fix pronto... Don’t look to good for a top notch template provider. :)

      Same problem with this Metropolis site —> www.crepinsports.com

      Weirder, as it happen only on the front page, if you go in other menu the typo of the menu become nice, like in other browsers.

    • Doesnt look ugly to me in your screenshot?
      By the nature of things font rendering is different in every browser.
      Overall we decided to not fix things for Safari 6 wich is known for suffering many bugs.
      Internally we call Safari 6 the "new" IE6.
      Check the site in Safari 7 and you will see everything is perfect.
      I don't even try to click on the link because you are blocking 99% of all countries allways.
      You don't need to post those links if no one can see them.

    • Geographic Firewall- USA are unblock, where I you situated ?

      The font is thin, unprecise, don’t look good at all for me.

      Verdana, Helvetica, Tahoma, Geneva, Arial, sans serif Work perfectly...

      How do you explain that on the site, when you go to other menu than the front page (look at the difference in the screen shots) the font look good.

      Curiously the computed properties are exactly the same for the Home button and when your are on another menu item

      -webkit-transition-delay: 0s;
      -webkit-transition-duration: 0.1s;
      -webkit-transition-property: color;
      -webkit-transition-timing-function: ease-in;
      color: rgb(118, 208, 236);
      cursor: pointer;
      display: block;
      font-family: SourceSansProRegular, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;
      font-size: 16px;
      height: 33px;
      line-height: 24px;
      list-style-image: none;
      list-style-position: outside;
      list-style-type: none;
      outline-color: rgb(118, 208, 236);
      outline-style: none;
      outline-width: 0px;
      padding-bottom: 17px;
      padding-left: 10px;
      padding-right: 10px;
      padding-top: 13px;
      position: relative;
      text-align: left;
      text-decoration: none;
      text-shadow: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.701961) 1px 1px 1px;
      transition-delay: 0s;
      transition-duration: 0.1s;
      transition-property: color;
      transition-timing-function: ease-in;
      width: 88px;

    • ... that has often something to do with hardware accelaration in webkit when you use css transitions in a section of the site.
      Often these font rendering bugs cause also some flickering effect.
      As I said Safari 6 has many bugs.

      Obviously the trend is to use thin fonts overall ...

      Ther are ome workarounds like
      -webkit-backface-visibility: hidden; and -webkit-transform: translate3d(0, 0, 0);
      and some other webkit specific properties like -webkit-font-smoothing
      css-tricks.com/beefing-up-dull-text-in-webkit/

      but since Safari 6 is an old browser we won't fix these things for RTv3.

      If you have an issue with your template I suggest to post in the template specific forums.
      Since our mod crew is spread around the globe I also suggest to make it possible to access the site.

    • Thanks Hennings

      What work for me (On Metroplolis)

      add
      -webkit-font-smoothing:subpixel-antialiased;
      to the body tag
      Way better, help many system fonts to be cleaner in Safari...
